Ole TIme Blogging

So funny how old my blogs are, I started when blogging first started and just kept going. I hope you don't mind the old, standard format. I've no time to re-invent the wheel and export and re-import all of the hundreds of articles in my blogs. I've always asked for volunteers, but never find any...really. You know, I was one of the first people on this planet to "blog" before blogging, these already formatted templates came into existence. I was also one of the "first" independent news folks covering on the Middle East crisis with my own silly HTML formatted pages, typed, each link designed, each page and the "tree" generated through dreamweaver.  wow. Times have changed and I still have no time.

Anyone want to help me put all of this together, one blog and website into something a bit more...modern?

Oh, just to help keep history alive and documented, you know.

I also have thousands of slides, film, and images on CD's that need to be "updated" onto something.

Oh, if independents like myself, only had a trust fund.

Kickstarter: Portland's Homeless Shepherd's Door Fourth Roll

Hello!
We are all finished with the images from the workshops!  Whoopie.  The Portland Rescue Mission had three rolls and a few women from the Shepherd's Door had four rolls.  The next step is to generate short films of each story and group representation.  Below are the results for the forth roll in order of three each:  Laura: Rachel B: Tara and Teri!

Portland Rescue Mission: Roll Three

We've had a few folks that lives got a bit complicated to continue with the project.  I am sorry to see them leave.  Jamie remained at the mission but felt that he had too many obligations to continue.  Kelly had a relapse and left the Mission.  We pray for his safety.

Michael did not take any images for the third roll but will keep the camera for next week.  In the end we have fewer images to share with you and here they are...in order by three.

Portland's Homeless: Roll Two Images Shepherd's Door

Here are some of the images from the second roll from the women at the Shepherd's Door.

The workshop has been moving well and everyone is starting to understand the limits of using film over digital!  We must wait to see the images and thus everyone needs to think about what they are taking pictures of.  The world of film is just about lost but for this workshop it is important.  We can't see the image right away and make the decision to delete of keep it.  Everyone is limited to 27 images, the light and the results.

Working with the street homeless on a project such as this does has its risks of people either taking the camera and not coming back or moving on to another city.  I decided to work with the two shelters to reduce the risk of transient behavior so we can do the series of workshops and develop stories.  Unfortunately, nothing is guaranteed and Lauren decided to leave the shelter so she will no longer be participating in the workshop.  We are sorry to see her go.
